Company Profile:

 In Delhi, the training programme for judicial officers was at a low key due to want of proper space and infrastructure.  Earlier, newly appointed judicial officers used to sit on the dais along with Senior Judges to observe day-to-day proceedings in the Court.  In 1992, 85 judicial officers joined the Delhi Judicial Service. They were given training for about 9 months, which included institutional training, practical training and field training. However, training was given to these officers in Tis Hazari Courts without any proper infrastructure and other facilities.

In 2002, a part of Karkardooma Courts was identified and earmarked for Judicial Academy. The Delhi Judicial Academy was inaugurated on 22nd February 2002 by Hon’ble The Chief Justice S.B. Sinha with the objective of imparting training to newly recruited judicial officers as well as for in-service judges. The inaugural function was attended by Hon’ble Judges of High Court of Delhi, District & Sessions Judge, Registrar General, High Court of Delhi, Secretary (LJ &LA), Govt. of NCT, Delhi and Officers from District Judiciary.

Delhi Judicial Academy owes its existence to the vision and foresight of the then Chief Justice, High Court of Delhi, Hon’ble Mr. Justice S.B. Sinha and the then Judicial Officers Training Programme Committee comprising of Hon’ble Mr. Justice Anil Dev Singh, Hon’ble Mr. Justice Dalveer Bhandari, Hon’ble Mr. Justice V.S. Aggarwal, Hon’ble Mr. Justice A.K. Sikri, Hon’ble Mr. Justice R.C. Chopra and Hon’ble Mr. Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul.
